Site DescriptionEven the Visit Heart of England Tourist Board agrees that Blackmore is a wonderful Site. It awarded our Site Gold in the Excellence in Tourism Awards. This accolade underlines what we knew already – this quiet, wooded Site is simply brilliant.

Blackmore

The village of Hanley Swan is a mile’s walk from the Site. Here you will find a post office, a general store selling organic produce, a bakery, a butcher and a good pub with gardens. The Malvern Hills form a dramatic backdrop to the Site. There is a network of paths including one which runs the length of the Hills, taking in three major summits – the Worcestershire Beacon, the Herefordshire Beacon and Midsummer Hill. Great Malvern has an interesting priory which dates back to Norman times Malvern spa water may be well known, but the original springs can be difficult to track down. St Ann’s Well and Holy Well are tucked away in valleys. Beauchamp Spout in Cowleigh Road is restored and Malvhina is at Belle Vue Island. The city of Worcester is seven miles to the north. You can take a boat trip on the River Severn, visit the Royal Worcester Visitor Centre or climb the 200ft tower of the world-famous cathedral. The Three Counties Showground hosts many events during the year, like the National Sheep Event and the Malvern Autumn Garden and Country Show. Ledbury, to the south west, has some lovely old buildings.Walk up Church Lane, visit the Heritage Centre and St Michael’s Church. There is a Poetry Festival here in the summer. The pretty market town of Pershore is to the east. It has an imposing abbey and a local produce market. Several farmers’ markets are held near the Site. Car drivers will enjoy following the Elgar Trail in Worcestershire and the Black and White Villages Trail of North Herefordshire. Gloucester is home to Britain’s most inland port. The Docks now have a good antiques centre, the National Waterways Museum and give the chance to take a cruise on the Gloucester Sharpness Canal. There is a good dog walk through the trees on Site.

Comment: i live the campsite i camped with the guide and i was pleased with the proximity to the facility block my only thing was the cleanliness of the showers

Comment: We have been to this campsite many times, and have always enjoyed it. The site is clean and tidy and the staff are very friendly. the toilets and showers are some of the cleanest we have seen. Lovely area and some stunning walks ideal for people with animals. Going again easter!
