Site DescriptionTo the north of our lovely Club Site at California Cross is the wilderness of the Dartmoor National Park; to the south, the beauty of the South Devon Heritage Coast with its sandy beaches – perfect holiday country.

Modbury, the closest town to Site, is a Georgian market town with a good range of independent shops and several places to eat. To the north is the mill town of Ivybridge, the Southern Gateway to Dartmoor and the start of the Two Moors Way – a 102-mile trail crossing Dartmoor to Exmoor. The glorious beaches of South Hams are to the south, along with towns like Kingsbridge. Take a ferry down the river to Salcombe to watch the boating life in the harbour. Visit the Lifeboat Museum and the narrow streets where the boatbuilders work. Salcombe’s Dairy and Chocolate Factory make delicious produce. Travel Torbay’s spectacular coast and the beautiful River Dart by steam train and ferry. Inland is Buckfastleigh, which holds Buckfast Abbey, the only abbey to be restored after the dissolution of the monasteries in the 15th century and reused for its original purpose. Buckfastleigh is also home to the Buckfast Butterflies and Dartmoor Otter Sanctuary. Walk from the Club Site to Blackdown Rings – an Iron Age Hill Fort – near Loddiswell. There is a garage with a well stocked shop near the Site.
