Site DescriptionSheltered from the fenland winds, our Cambridge Site is a great base for exploring – especially by bike because the area is so flat. Wildlife lovers should look out for the woodpeckers and muntjac deer.

Cambridge is best known for its university. Wander round the colleges or check out the shopping centre. A Park and Ride bus stop is half a mile from the Site – a good way to avoid taking a car into the city. The village of Great Shelford is just over a mile from Site and has a supermarket, Post Office and bank. There are also a number of pubs serving food. Cyclists are very welcome in the area; the countryside is flat and many roads have cycle paths. The pretty village of Grantchester was immortalised in the poem by Rupert Brooke. Europe’s top aviation museum – the Imperial War Museum at Duxford – is accessible by bus. Its displays include 180 historic aircraft and there are flying displays in the summer. An old sewage pumping station is now home to the Cambridge Museum of Technology. The National Horse Racing Museum is at Newmarket – an easy drive to the north. Thetford Forest Park is a working forest as well as a place for relaxation and recreation. Anglesey Abbey is one of several National Trust properties in the area. It stands in 40 hectares of gardens and holds the Fairhaven collection of paintings and furniture.
