Site DescriptionThe parkland setting of the Edisford Riverside Picnic and Recreation area is home to our Clitheroe Club Site. South of the Forest of Bowland, the Site is peaceful and close enough for day trips to the coast.

Clitheroe town is a couple of miles away. The 12th century Norman keep overlooks the town and the museum holds the North West Sound Archive of 9,000 recordings made in the area. Pendle Borough Council publishes several car trails, including Brontës and Browsing and Boats and Beams. Manchester is an hour’s drive away, with its shopping facilities, the Museum of Science and Industry and the Imperial War Museum North. Pendle View Fisheries has coarse and fly-fishing facilities. Towneley Hall Art Gallery and Museums includes a country house, aquarium and natural history centre as well as the country house. Knowsley Safari Park is home to lions, tigers and a baboon jungle. The Brontë family lived in Haworth. The Brontë Parsonage Museum is in the house where Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights were written. Lightwater Valley is a family sized theme park ideal for smaller children. The Ribble Valley Sculpture Trail exhibits the work of local artists in a walk from Brungerley Bridge and Croshill Quarry. The village of Waddington is near Site. It holds several “best village” awards and has three good pubs.
