Site DescriptionThe lovely sand of Pevensey appears at low tide near our Club Site at Norman’s Bay. The Pevensey Levels are known for nature conservation and agriculture. The beauty of the South Downs is to the south west.

Pevensey Castle is one of Britain’s oldest and most important strongholds. Fortifications date back to Roman times. Eastbourne is five miles to the south. The Eastbourne Miniature Steam Railway Adventure Park includes a five-acre fishing lake. Eastbourne’s Sovereign Marina includes many shops, craft outlets and waterfront restaurants. Beachy Head is Britain’s highest chalk cliff. The Countryside Centre has interactive displays about the wildlife and history of the area. The picturesque village of Alfriston has a long history of smuggling. The South Downs Way ends at the Seven Sisters Country Park. The Seven Sisters is a series of vertical chalk headlands. The Observatory Science Centre at Herstmonceux – home of Greenwich Mean Time – includes exhibitions on Mediaeval Machines, puzzles and an outdoor science playground. Take the ferry from Newhaven for a day trip to France. The well-stocked Site shop sells fresh croissants, rolls and Danish pastries every morning. A fish and chip van calls a twice a week. Please ignore the Norman’s Bay sign on the way to the Site, as shown on the map below.
