Site Description

This small quiet campsite lies along the banks of the river Ystwyth. It is situated on the mountain road between Rhayader and Cwmystwyth amidst mountains scenery. Relax in the peace and quiet of this valley of outstanding natural beauty.

Our facilities are of a high standard and consist of ladies and gents toilets, hot and cold water, shower, washroom, electricity hook ups, barbecues, picnic tables, also swings and an embankment slide.

Tyllwyd has been the home of the Raw family since 1825. The 1st James Raw moved here from Melbeck in Yorkshire, and was Captain of the Cwmystwyth Lead Mine for 40 years, indeed the uppermost western adit was called after him - the Raws‚ Adit. Tyllwyd is an open hill sheep farm of approx. 708 hectares rising from 830 to 1870 ft above sea level.
